Not to stay here would be pure folly, so don't let the impenetrable Gaelic name put you off. Pronounced ‘ tie-romack' – it translates as ‘the rough house'. And don't take that the wrong way either. It's merely a reference to the stonework – and thereby hangs an amusing histoire (which you'll discover when you get there).

A trysting place for lovers even when it was a ruin, this very secluded fairy-tale Gothic fantasy pad sits in a woodland clearing, next to a pond and burn - toddlers beware. B-listed as a building by the architectural heritage pointy heads, its beautifully designed interior offers comfort in an environment of natural materials and antique furniture:
